Next Appearance Unlike many star siblings, teen actress and singer Jamie Lynn Spears (also billed as Jamie-Lynn Spears) managed to step out of the long shadow cast by her older sister, pop phenomenon Britney Spears, and enjoy her own career success as a likable teen idol on the popular TV show, “Zoey 101.”Born April 4, 1991 in McComb, MS, Spears was the youngest of three children born to Jamie and Lynne Spears (whose first names were combined to create hers). While still a baby, Spears moved from her hometown of Kentwood, LA, to New York City with her mother and older sister in an effort to build Britney’s music career. When Britney did hit big in the late ‘90s, Jamie Lynn began expressing interest in following in her sister’s performing footsteps. At first, the youngster began popping up in her sisters’ projects. Her first onscreen appearance came in the 2001 concert movie, “Totally Britney Live.” She also turned up in a Pepsi commercial with her sister in that same year, as well as playing a younger version of Britney’s character in her unfortunate feature film debut, “Crossroads.”
According to some reports, the younger Spears made public in an interview her desire to join the cast of the venerable Nickelodeon sketch comedy show, “All That” (1994-2005). Whether this is the case or not, Spears joined the cast in 2002, and remained with the show until its final season in 2004. Though some critics and fans were less than impressed with Spears’ performance on “All That,” she clearly resonated with the majority of viewers, who nominated her for both a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award as Best Television Actress, and for a Young Artist Award, which she shared with the rest of her castmates. Spears also guested on several other programs during this time, including the ABC Family reality series, “Switched!” (2003-04), and on a 2004 segment of the entertainment tabloid show “Real Access” (The N, 2003- ), as well as several Nickelodeon-related specials.
Following the series wrap of “All That,” Spears was given her own show in 2005 – “Zoey 101” (Nickelodeon, 2005- ). The show follows Spears as Zoey Brooks, one of a group of girls attending a formerly all-boys boarding school. In addition to her role as Zoey, Spears also co-wrote and sang the show’s theme song. The program proved extremely popular among teen audiences, which helped make it the third most-watched program on the network, and earning Spears a Young Artist Award in 2005 for Best Ensemble Cast. The blossoming star was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award that same year for Best Breakout Performance (Female).
In 2006, the popularity of “Zoey 101” spawned an hour-long special feature, “Zoey 101: Spring Break-Up,” which introduced an element of romance between Spears’ character and castmate Sean Flynn’s character, Chase Matthews.

Britney Spears’ Kid Sister Pregnant | Link Me (New)

Posted by admin | Celebrity Corner, Jamie Lynn Spears | Tuesday 25 December 2007 2:10 pm

britney_jamie.jpgBritney Spears is going to be an aunt.

Britney Spears’ sixteen year old sister Jamie Lynn Spears, a high school junior not known to be in a serious relationship, is pregnant.

Jamie, 16, and her mum, Lynne, confirmed the pregnancy to America’s OK! magazine. She’s apparently 12 weeks along, and the father of the baby is her long-term boyfriend, Casey Alridge.

Jamie told OK!: “It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he.”

She waited two weeks before telling her parents and told the magazine: “I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”

Mum Lynne told OK!: “I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby.”

Casey’s mum, Joyce, told TMZ she was aware of the interview and pregnancy, and that “we are in agreement with everything that was said by Jamie Lynn”.

When asked whether she was in a relationship, Jamie recently told the Associated Press:

“I kind of just keep my options open. I have a bunch of friends that I always hang out with, a bunch of guy friends.”

Jamie stars as a schoolgirl in the comedy television show Zoey 101 produced by American cable television network Nickelodeon.

A statement issued by Nickelodeon states:

“We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

Jamie Lynn Stay Strong… | Link Me (New)

Posted by admin | Celebrity Corner, Jamie Lynn Spears | Sunday 23 December 2007 2:55 am

Jamie Lynn Stay Strong…As of now, a lot is being said towards Jamie Lynn in the media. The negativity towards this sensitive matter is unreal. Whether some take notice of this or not, millions of young girls each year are having babies. Many show sympathy for them and support them, yet in this case it’s different? We feel that Jamie Lynn is being judged on this matter based on who she is and her family backround and not truly on what has happened.

We feel the need to show support for Jamie Lynn in this uncomfortable and hard time. No matter what happens, she is a young girl who makes mistakes just like millions of other teens. No one should be treated the way she has been. No one is perfect and life is a learning experience. Sure, this incident was a big one and probably one she would rather not have happened but what’s done is done and it’s time to move on.

Jamie Lynn - us at Jamie-Spears.com love and support you and wish you the best. Please stay strong and don’t let the media push you down. You are a strong girl and can make it through :) The following are supportive messages from fans:

“Jamie all of your fans love you and we wish you the best of luck! Stay strong and don’t listen to what the media has to say. You are an amazing, talented person that made a mistake that happens to alot of teen girls.” - Melissa

“Jamie Lynn I will always love you no matter what and I will continue to support you through everything. You are a brave little girl and I know you will come out of this stronger than ever. I wish you the best! Stay strong!” - Jen

“Jamie, I know this is a tough time for you right now. Trust me.. I’ve been there. I had a baby when I was 17 years old and got pregnant when I was 16. I am not a bad person and never was. I just made a bad decision like many people in this world make. I know what you’re going through and I feel so much sympathy for you. I remember how bad it was for me. I got a lot of trash talk from people at school and in my neighboorhood… but my family stuck by me and I know yours will too. Stay close to your mom and continue to confide in her. We all know what a wonderful person you are and that stuff like this just happens. It doesn’t make you a bad person so pay no attention what the media or any stupid cold hearted blogger like Perez Hilton has to say. Saying comments like they do just maakes them feel better about themselves. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and I know you can make it through! We love you Jamie!! - Alyssa

Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnancy Met With Shock, Support From Celebs And Fans | Link Me (New)

Posted by admin | Celebrity Corner, Jamie Lynn Spears | Sunday 23 December 2007 2:52 am

158.pngAs the news broke on Tuesday that 16-year-old “Zoey 101″ star Jamie Lynn Spears was pregnant, reaction from fans and celebrities ran the gamut from messages of support and love to condemnation for what some saw as an irresponsible act by another member of the Spears clan.
“This is like one train wreck after another,” J from New York wrote in You Tell Us. “This is why Britney should have set a good example for her sister.”
“I am shocked. I can’t believe she’s pregnant and 16,” said Jaimi, 18, from Milwaukee. “While she is young, she knows she made a mistake and is willing to accept her consequences. I support her decision to keep her baby. … Let’s just hope she learns from her sister’s mistakes.”
The assessment from New York’s Hatick was even more blunt: “She’s just another girl who thinks she’s invincible.”
On the red carpet of her CD-release party Tuesday night, Mary J. Blige, no stranger to drama in her personal life, had some supportive words for Spears. “Stay strong, baby girl,” Blige said. “If that’s her choice [to keep the baby], then congratulations. Hope she’s responsible, and I hope she understands what that brings. … You have to change your lifestyle up, so [your children] can look at you as an example. It’s all about Mommy being an example, Jamie. That’s what it’s about.”
John Legend, who was also at Blige’s event, said he could relate to the situation. “My sister had a baby when she was young, so I know what it’s like, and … it’s going to be difficult, so I hope her family supports her and takes care of her,” he said. “It’s hard for a young mother.”
Jamie Lynn also had sympathy from some fans. “A part of me thinks it’s sad,” wrote Tina, 20, from Baltimore. “It could have happened to me when I was 16, but it didn’t — it happened to me when I was 17. I am now 20 and a single mother, but I am doing a good job at taking care of my baby boy. And if I can do it, Jamie Lynn can do it too. And she has the support of her family, so she’s going to be OK.”
Lauren, an 18-year-old from Oxford, Pennsylvania, was also optimistic about Jamie Lynn’s future. “I think people should stop judging so much,” she wrote. “She’s pregnant — her life isn’t over. If it happens to some other teen girl, it’s OK. [Just] because she’s a celebrity and she is … Britney’s little sister doesn’t mean she is any different and should be judged. I wish her and her boyfriend the best of luck!”
Over on the fan site Jamie-Spears.com, there was also solid support for the teen star. “She has the financial means to support the baby, which is one of the biggest problems facing teen parents,” Amatatomba wrote on the site’s boards. “Teen parents can be parents just as well as older parents, if not better in some ways, but people tend to think all teen parents are … trash, irresponsible and selfish. If she was irresponsible, she’d be having an abortion, not keeping the baby. I support her all the way. She’ll make a good mom.”
But some older MTV readers reacted with anger to the news. One mother, Cynthia, 40, from Newton, Connecticut, wrote in a You Tell Us post that she hopes Nickelodeon will pull “Zoey 101″ from the air immediately. “I will not let my children watch the show any longer,” she said. “How else can one make a statement about this disgusting lack of values? Shame on her, and shame on her mom.”
And Christina, 25, a teacher from Orlando, Florida, said the message Spears has sent to impressionable teens is not a good one. “I’m sorry she made this decision to become sexually active at such a young age,” she said. “I teach seventh grade, and unfortunately we have a young girl who may currently be pregnant. As someone who is in the limelight on a teen-focused channel such as Nickelodeon, Jamie Lynn is a role model whether she likes it or not. My fear is that young girls will start to see this as OK, and the family structure in the U.S. will deteriorate further than it already has. Miss Spears has money to support herself and a baby at the age of 16. Most girls who get themselves into this trouble do not have the same resources.”
If nothing else, the news just seemed to confuse some young fans, who weren’t sure what to make of the fact that Spears would be a mother before she can legally vote with a boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, whom she reportedly broke up with earlier this year. “I think that she’s too young to be having a child when she’s one herself, but everything happens for a reason,” wrote Neshia, 20, of Fort Lauderdale.
James, 14, of Amelia, Ohio, had a harsher assessment, though. “I think it was very irresponsible for Jamie to get pregnant at 16,” he wrote. “She seems way too nice and perfect to do that!”

Nick Considers Spears Pregnancy Special | Link Me (New)

Posted by admin | Celebrity Corner, Jamie Lynn Spears | Sunday 23 December 2007 2:49 am

Nick Considers Spears Pregnancy SpecialNEW YORK (AP) — Nickelodeon is considering a special for its young audience about sex and love following the news that 16-year-old “Zoey 101″ star Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.

The television network has made no announcement about the future of “Zoey 101,” its popular program aimed primarily at youngsters aged 9-14. Filming for the show’s fourth and final season has finished, and episodes are scheduled to begin airing in February.

For the special, Nickelodeon said it’s talking with veteran newswoman Linda Ellerbee, the veteran newswoman who has stepped in frequently in the past with shows on talking to children about difficult issues in the news. She’s done shows about same-sex parents, AIDS, the Columbine shooting and President Clinton’s impeachment scandal.

“I think it’s important that something be done,” Ellerbee told The Associated Press on Thursday. “But I think it’s important that it be done in a measured way, and not just to feed the beast of news stories.

A Nickelodeon spokesman, Dan Martinsen, confirmed the discussions but said no decision had been made.

Spears, the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears, told the OK! celebrity magazine this week that she was pregnant. The father is her 19-year-old boyfriend, Casey Aldridge. She said she plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana.

Nickelodeon has made no comment beyond a supportive statement for its star: “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

The company has received a mixed response so far from its viewers, and the news has launched a public discussion about how parents should deal with it.

“This is a great opportunity for parents at this moment to talk to their kids about this — more important, to listen to their kids about this,” Ellerbee said.

Rather than focus strictly on Spears, Ellerbee said she’s considering producing a broad discussion about how people know they’re in love, when is the right time to have sex and what are the value systems of their parents and friends. It could air as soon as next month.

“Right now what Nick is trying to do — and what I am trying to do — is figure out what is the best thing to do for kids,” she said.

One television critic, David Hinckley of the New York Daily News, wrote Thursday that to end “this sordid moment” with a lesson, Nickelodeon should pull the plug on “Zoey 101.”

“If Nickelodeon keeps Jamie Lynn Spears because her product sells, it runs the risk that a valuable message it has spent years crafting could shift from `trust us’ to `whatever,’” Hinckley wrote.

Although Nick executives are still discussing the future of “Zoey 101,” it’s considered unlikely that it would shelve the final season. The third season ends Jan. 4 with a cliffhanger episode about whether Spears’ character continues to attend a boarding school in California or moves to London with her parents.

Executives at Nick’s rival Disney Channel public relations crisis this summer when Vanessa Hudgens, the 18-year-old star of its “High School Musical” franchise, posed for nude photos that were leaked to the Internet. Hudgens apologized, Disney stuck by her and the issue quickly faded.
